When Might Duct Replacement Be Necessary?

How did your air conditioner perform during the hottest time of the previous summer, which we are just now wrapping up? If you had any issues with your air conditioning performance that you think may stem from problems with your ductwork, now is the time to act. If you use a forced air heating system, too, you run the risk of a subpar performance from that system as well.

In many instances, your air ducts can simply be repaired and sealed by a trained professional. In many others, though, professional duct replacement in West Hartford, CT may be necessary. Here are a few situations in which that may be the case.

  • Extensive Damage/Corrosion: When you hire trained professionals to repair and seal your ductwork, you can expect it to function well once more. There are limits to anything, though, and there will come a point when duct sealing is just not worthwhile, or just not possible. If your air ducts have been extensively damaged during, say, a construction project, or they are very corroded in many places, replacing them may be a more reasonable endeavor.
  • Poor Design/Construction: When you work with the ductwork professionals on our staff, you are not going to have to worry about problems like this. It is possible that the contractor that installed your air ducts, though, simply did not do a good job of it. If your air ducts are not well-designed and laid out, or if your ducts are not of the right size for your home/system, then replacing them may be necessary to resolve the problem.
  • Pest Infestations: Any time you have pests in your home, it is wise to have your air ducts cleaned, as they can leave a lot of unpleasant matter behind. However, it may be necessary to replace sections of your ductwork if the pests/varmints in question do a lot of damage. Whatever the case, we'll assess the situation and guide you in your decision making process accordingly.
