We don't purport to be psychologists, and you should probably reconsider working with any plumbers that do so. That being said, let's play a quick word association game, shall we? What's the first thing that pops into your head when you hear the phrase "bathroom"? Was it toilet? We bet it was toilet. In fact, for many people, "toilet" is the first thing that they'll think of when they hear the word "plumbing" in general! This makes sense to us.

After all, the toilet is an incredibly important part of any plumbing system. Its job may not be the most glamorous, but it is crucial if you want to live in a comfortable and convenient way. That is why any problems with your toilet are of such concern. Fortunately for you, you've already found the right plumber in New Britain for handling your toilet plumbing services in the right way—we're talking about us. Read on to learn more about what to do when your toilet starts leaking.

One: Are You Sure It's a Leak?

Look, we are not trying to throw anyone under the bus here. Suffice to say that, when faced with as potentially stressful a situation as a leaking toilet, there is a chance that some people may react too quickly, without getting their facts straight. Toilet leaks are often serious problems, but only when there is actually a leak!

A lot of times, homeowners may think that their toilets are leaking, only to realize that what they are dealing with is actually just condensation dripping off of the tank. If there is a lot of condensation beading up on your toilet tank, you'd be better off with a dehumidifier than you would a professional plumber.

Two: Where Is the Leak?

This is a big step and an important one. You need to determine where the leak is coming from. Are you concerned about a toilet that won't stop running? That could be due to a leak. The toilet tank may be leaking into the bowl, which you can test by adding a few drops of food coloring to the water in the tank. If the water in the bowl changes color, then that's likely what you're dealing with.

If the leak is in the tank itself, or if the leak is coming from around the base of the toilet, then it is definitely time to call a professional plumber. When the tank leaks into the bowl, you may just need to readjust or replace the flapper at the bottom of that tank. If it is coming from the base of the toilet, the wax seal will have to be removed, along with the whole toilet, to access the potential problem area. And if the tank itself is leaking, well—you need a new toilet.

Three: Make Ours the Number You Dial

When it comes to your toilet, you really don't want to be waiting around for a plumber to show up. We'll be there when you need us, we'll diagnose the problem accurately, and we'll make sure that your toilet leak is resolved as soon as possible.
